Loflin Yard

My most recent weekend getaway was to Memphis Tennessee. My project manager lives there and she invited me and a few co-workers to spend the weekend at her place downtown. I had never been to Memphis so I was excited to go. My project manager suggested that we go to Loflin Yard because she loves it there and thought that we would too. When we first arrived we went up to the walk up window bar. I ordered a Wolpertinger Mischief.

It was on their specials menu for $5.00. It was made with Slow and Low Rock and Rye, Letherbee Fernet, Amaro Averna, Benedictine, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram. egg white, Whiskey Barrel Aged bitters, with Laphroaig Scotch Wash. It was really tasty and pretty fancy for being on special.

I hadn’t eaten yet so we all decided to order food. My co-worker ordered a veggie sandwich. It looked really good but I didn’t get to try it.

The two guy co-workers I came with both ordered the pulled pork platter. One ordered theirs with coleslaw and beans.

The other got his with beans and corn.

The pork was so tender and delicious. I got a forkful and mixed in come coleslaw.

My friend Lydia and I decided to share the brisket tacos,

And the queso with added brisket.

Both were delicious.

Of course I added hot sauce to my tacos.

This was the first time I had tried brisket tacos… Needless to say, I am a fun.

Then I tried the chips and queso….

OMG was it good. The cheese was nice and thick, not runny, and had an amazing flavor.

After dinner I got another drink.

This time I decided to try the That Sip Plum Sloe. It was another fancy $5.00 drink special made with Death’s Door Gin, Sipsmith Sloe Gin, Laird’s Applejack Brandy, lemon, brown sugar cinnamon vanilla syrup, plumb bitters, and Ruffino Prosecco. I was afraid to try this one because I am not a fan of Gin. I think that Gin tastes like Christmas trees. To my surprise, the drink tasted nothing like Christmas trees.

Before I came to Loflin Yard, I did my research. I was so excited to come here because they have an open fire pit and they serve make your own s’mores!

You get a stick to roast the marshmallow over the open fire.

I lit mine on fire.

Then I got the chocolate and graham cracker.

I put it all together.

And took a video of “The Smush”

Then I ate it.

I made a huge mess but it was worth it! There was marshmallow everywhere.

I wanted one more drink before I left. They had a frozen drink machine with whiskey and coke. I had a sample and it was strong.

I enjoyed every last sip of it, even the brain freezes.

At the end of the night, it was time to go home. I really enjoyed my time here. It was a super chill spot. It wasn’t a place for crazy partying but it felt like a house party. They had lots of outside games like the bean bag toss and Jenga. I would love to come back here one day. Maybe when it is warmer.
