Yamato Japanese Steak House and Sushi

A few weeks ago, a co-worker and I saw this sushi place and decided to stop in for lunch. I really wanted sushi but when I saw their bento box lunch special, I couldn’t resist. The lunch special came with soup or salad, a meat (I chose beef), fried rice, shrimp and veggie tempura, hibachi veggies, a goyza roll, and a California roll. All of this was only $6.99.

Because I can’t chose between soup or salad, I got both. I ordered the salad with ginger dressing…

And the clear mushroom soup.

Both were great!

I immediately began to dig into my bento box the second it was placed in front of me. I went in straight for a forkfull of beef, rice, and veggies. OMG I can still remember the taste while writing this.

Next I wanted to try the tempura. The veggie tempura I think was a potato, but I am not sure. It tasted like a potato.

The other veggie tasted like broccoli which was also really good.

And the other piece of tempura was a piece of shrimp. I was really impressed with all but I def liked the shrimp the best.

Finally, I went for the California roll. I think that was the best California roll that I have ever eaten.

After my first experience was such a huge success, I couldn’t wait to go back and try some of their sushi!

Today I went back with two co-workers for lunch. I told them both about the bento box and what a great deal it was. One decided to go with the beef bento box. My other co-worker got sushi tempura.

I started with the miso soup, the other choice of soup that they offer.

It did not disappoint. I almost ordered a second bowl.

When my sushi came out, I was so excited. I ordered my usual salmon avocado, which was great.

I also ordered a roll that I never had before… the mango salmon roll. This roll was unlike any other. It had salmon, avocado, crab, and mango, wrapped in soy paper. No rice at all.

I put the whole thing in my mouth and it was sweet and delicious.

My favorite piece of sushi was this little guy right here (he wasn’t very little). This roll was called the Sunday morning roll. It was deep fried salmon and cream cheese with hot sauce on top. OMG. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture of myself eating it. I just enjoyed its flavor. No time for photos.

The only thing that I can think about as I write this is when can I go back again. Legit this place is delicious with great prices. Stop in if you are in the area.
