Julio’s Easy Stop, Don’t Pass It Up!

Today is my last Tuesday in Corpus Christi, TX. It is also my last day working with the manager of the local office. He took me out to lunch as a way to say thank you for my hard work during the four months that I have been here. He said he knew a great place called Julios Easy Stop. I Googled and Yelped reviews and pictures and I told him that I would like to check the place out.

When we arrived, it was a plain building that you wouldn’t even recognize as a restaurant if you weren’t looking for it. It is very easy to pass. Julio’s is a mom and pop place and is only open Monday-Friday 5:00 am to 2:30 pm. They serve breakfast until 11:00 am and have pretty cheap prices. The menu isn’t huge, but there is still plenty to choose from. I really want to go back and try the huevos rancheros… YUM!

I was in between the tacos or the burger. I really wanted fries so I got the burger. The burger was delicious. The patty wasn’t a thick or fat, but it was big and filled with flavor. They also make their own hot sauce there. I got this great idea to put it on my burger and it was out of this world. It was just the right amount of spicy. I didn’t even need to add ketchup.

Julio’s had a really cool set up. There was no table service. It has a walk up counter where you order and pay. Then you sit down and wait for your food to come out. It reminded me of something like a pizzeria in New Jersey. It had the same type of tables and chairs. Along the walls were hundreds of photos of people who have stopped by this establishment. I assumed the majority of the photos were of famous people but I did not recognize many of them.

This place is truly a hidden gem. It is a hole in the wall that is off the main road. Mostly locals eat here but if you’re in the area, it is worth the stop. I love places like this, especially when I get tired of eating at chain restaurants.
