If you have ever visited South Texas, you would know that there is a Whataburger on every corner. Whataburger’s original location is actually located in Corpus Christi. These joints are great because they are 24 hours and they serve their whole menu all day. That means breakfast at 9:00 PM and burgers at 6:00 am. I have never been a huge fan of breakfast food so I frequent Whataburger on the mornings that I am hungry/hungover.
This morning I was driving to work and I passed by the same sign that I see every day. This sign was advertising for Whataburger’s new chorizo burger. I was hungry because I didn’t eat dinner the night before so I decided to stop there before work.
Once I got to work, I took out my food and examined the burger. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but it is a double patty burger with a slice of cheese in between the two patties. It also has peppers and this delicious orange sauce on the bun. I love spicy foods, however, foods that say they are spicy are never spicy enough for me. This chorizo burger had a kick to it. It was not overpowering or so hot that I needed to drink milk. It was the perfect amount of spicy. It had a lot of flavor and the texture of the patty was different than the patty of an all beef burger. A good different.
The burger was HUGE! I had to cut it in half because I knew that I could not eat the whole thing.
If you are ever see a Whataburger and have the pleasure of trying the chorizo burger, I recommend trying it with the Whataburger spicy ketchup. Whataburger makes their own ketchups and they are surprisingly very tasty.
